TV80 Becomes Treasure Valley’s First Premier Youth Basketball League
It has been a busy week for HSB Academy and its founders. An improved partnership with Axiom, a new facility announcement and now their latest venture. Today, Academy Co-Founders Carson Sofro and Mike Quinney unveiled the TV80 (Treasure Valley 80), the Treasure Valley’s first and only premier youth basketball league. Featuring 10 teams, 80 players and 1 coveted championship trophy, TV80 participants (grades 5th-8th) will develop, train and compete in the most unique playing environment ever produced in Southwest Idaho.
League games will be played every Saturday starting October 12th at HSB’s Academy Court, a new state-of-the-art training and competition venue located at Axiom in Meridian. Other league highlights include a full size NBA court, 35 second shot clock, experienced coaches (no parent coaches), reversible jerseys, live player stats, weekly award nominations, and League MVP and All-Tournament selections.
Although players are not required to tryout, a Player Evaluation Session will be held, Saturday October 6, 2018. All players will be evaluated based on their fundamental basketball skills and knowledge of the game. These evaluations will be used solely for the purposes of team selection and player information will be not be shared with any outside parties.
“We’ve wanted to run leagues like this for quite some time now but have never had a location,” shared HSB Director of Player Development Michael Quinney. “Our new space with a full size NBA court and shot clocks is going to be a game changer.”
Limited to just the first 80 registrations per season, organizers have already acknowledged availability will be tight. More than 20 spots were taken before any kind of public announcement.
TV80 seasons will run every 8 weeks starting in October with 6 weeks of regular season action and two weeks of playoffs. Current offerings are limited to boys only however, organizers plan to expand into girls leagues in the near future.
